Season in review: excellent signings prt 3 Bacaray Sagna

Arsene Wenger has always been one that looks outside the box. Instead of looking for talent where everyone else shops, he sends his scouts to areas that are virtually untouched. Last summer he went to France, to the League One team known as Auxerre to purchase a youngman (aged 25) who has a love to attire his head with blond add ons, despite being of African descent. Only those that watched the French game regularly knew what the young man had to offer. During his time at Auxerre he managed to make 87 league appearances and was called to the French Squad in 2005.Commentators made little jokes about his hair style and wondered why Wenger did not purchase recognized player to solve his defensive problems. The jokes were soon put aside as the young man immediately became a stalwart force in the Arsenal defense. Wenger decided to move Eboue from his RWB role to RM and this opened the door for first team action for the young Senagalese French International.

The outcome was a match made in heaven. Sagna used his pace to partner with Eboue on the wing to run overlaps down the right stretch to pass off to the offensive line, which led to Arsenals great goal tally during the starting leg of the season. He also was more than capable in his defensive duties hitting opponents with great tackles and often outpacing attacking players to the ball when they pushed it forward. Sagna in his debut season already has 40 appearances for Arsenal. He would have had even more appearances if he did not falter to injuries a couple weeks ago playing against Chelsea. Ironically in that match he scored his first goal. A brilliant side glanced header that evaded the Chelsea goal keeper, before he was soon carried of the feild with a season ending injury. Sagna will definitely be a player to watch in upcoming seasons for Arsenal.
